Jameis Winston is a pending NFL free agent after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers landed one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Tom Brady, earlier this offseason. Now, Winston has taken to performing some rather interesting workouts in order to keep fresh in free agency:

As you can see, a hulking suspended weight is heading Winston’s way, causing him to dodge it while keeping light on his feet in what is a simulation of the pocket.

While this workout might seem practical in theory, when watching the 26-year-old actually undertake this odd exercise, questions arise: when would this activity actually occur in-game? What does this exercise teach other than the ability to dodge giant, slow balls in non-game situations?

One notable detractor of this workout was former NFL quarterback and current NFL Network analyst David Carr, who was not impressed with this exercise:

Winston’s future might be up in the air at the moment, but this workout likely won’t change teams’ opinions of him in the short-term.
