The New Orleans Saints found themselves on the wrong end of one of the most controversial calls in NFL history on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Rams.

As a result, the entire sports world has been zeroed in on the now infamous blown call that ultimately sent the Rams to the Super Bowl to square off against Tom Brady and the heralded New England Patriots. With Rams defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman blatantly interferring with Saints wide receiver Tommylee Lewis late in the game, the no-call seemed to serve as the dagger despite the high-powered bout eventually heading to overtime.

On Monday, former NFL Head of Officiating and current FOX Sports Rules Analyst Mike Pereira joined The Rich Eisen Show to add his two cents regarding the matter. In doing so, Pereira made it abundantly clear that the atmosphere in the league office won't be a positive one following the obvious blown call.

“They blew the call,” Saints head coach Sean Payton told reporters after Sunday's excruciating loss to the Rams. “It’s a game-changing call — third down with 1:45 left. A tough one to swallow. My problem with it is, if we’re playing pickup football in the backyard, it was as obvious a call. How two guys can look at that and come up with their decision — we’ll probably never get over it. The truth is — some of these losses — one like that — it’s too bad.”

It now remains to be seen as to what happens next as the ball is currently very much in the league office's court.
