The Chicago Blackhawks will head down into the desert to take on the Arizona Coyotes in tonight's central division rivalry matchup. Both of these teams are holding up the bottom of the central division and it's been clear since very early on that these teams would not be making the playoffs. With that said, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Blackhawks-Coyotes prediction and pick.

Why The Blackhawks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Chicago Blackhawks have struggled all year long. They're in a situation where they are in a rough rebuild stage and their star players might get dealt away before they know it. The Hawks are in second to last place in the Central right now with just 61 points, praying for a good lottery pick in the draft at this point. The Hawks are 1-8-1 in their last 10 games, and to be honest with you, that doesn't really surprise me. The team is a full downhill spiral and just playing for pride. In net tonight should be Kevin Lankinen since they traded away Marc-Andre Fleury at the trade deadline. Lankinen has a .887 save percentage while allowing 3.66 goals against per game. He'll look to pad his personal stats tonight against an even worse Coyotes team.

Why The Coyotes Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Arizona Coyotes are simply just brutal this season. They sit at the bottom of the league this season, dead last in points with just 49. The organization as a whole has been pretty dramatic this year as most Yotes fans (and hockey fans in general) want to just sell the team and move them to Quebec. They've been in contract disputes with their current arena and are now forced to move to Arizona State University's campus to play games next season – an embarrassment to the league in my personal opinion, but that's another topic for another day.

Simply put, the Coyotes suck. They're in full tank mode to get that number one pick in the draft, but with their luck, they'll still miss out on highly sought-after prospect, Shane Wright. In the net for the Yotes tonight is more than likely Karel Vejmelka, who is sporting a .899 save percentage while allowing 3.67 goals against per game. He'll also be looking to pad his own personal stats against a barely better opponent in the Blackhawks tonight.

Final Blackhawks-Coyotes Prediction & Pick

Let's just make this quick and painless, both of these teams flat out stink. Either of these teams could easily get the win tonight and it could go one of two ways: a shootout of high-scoring back and forth goals, or little to no goals at all. I'm going to go with the former, simply just because betting for overs is just way more fun to watch than betting unders. Give me over 6.5 goals and let's just go out there and have some fun. Don't bet the farm on this, maybe half a unit at most.

Final Blackhawks-Coyotes Prediction and Pick: Over 6.5 (-105)
