The Boston Bruins will be across the country in Sin City to take on the Vegas Golden Knights in tonight's ESPN matchup. This will be the second meeting between these teams this season, as the Knights came out on top 4-1 in their first contest. With that said, this should be a great matchup as both teams are fighting for a better playoff position. It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Bruins-Golden Knights prediction and pick.

Why The Bruins Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Boston Bruins continue their west-coast road trip in Vegas tonight after following a 4-3 loss to Anaheim on Tuesday. Boston is currently in a wild card spot in the eastern conference with 68 points, just three points ahead of the Capitals, in a very comfortable playoff spot nonetheless. The Bruins have also seen the total stay under 5.5 goals in seven of their last 10 road games. The main reason for these games to stay under the total is due to the stellar play of goaltender Jeremy Swayman. He's 13-7-3 on the year so far sporting a .929 save percentage and allowing just 1.95 goals against per game. Swayman will be looking to get the starting role between the pipes tonight once again as he'll look to shut the door on an inconsistent Vegas squad.

Why The Golden Knights Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Vegas Golden Knights look to end their three-game homestand with a win tonight after a 3-1 win against San Jose on Tuesday. That contest was another low-scoring affair for Vegas as the total has stayed under 5.5 in eight of their last 11 games. Since their captain and star forward Mark Stone was placed on injured reserve, the Knights' offense has taken a massive dip. In the last seven games without Stone, Vegas is averaging a very low 1.86 goals scored per game. The Knights are happy to have goaltender Robin Lehner back from injury though, as he'll look to patrol the home crease again tonight. On the season so far, Lehner is sporting a .907 save percentage and allowing 2.81 goals against per game. He'll look to keep it tight in this matchup against a hungry Bruins team.

Final Bruins-Golden Knights Prediction & Pick

Since the Vegas Golden Knights have entered the league in 2017, they have faced off against the Boston Bruins seven times. In six of those seven meetings, the total has stayed under 5.5 goals. However, on the season, the Knights are covering the over at 28-23-3 (54%) while the Bruins are an even 26-26-2. This game is very even and I expect it to be a great game that can go either way. With that said, I like the road splits for the Bruins (16-11) better than the home splits for the Knights (15-15). I want to take the Bruins in this pick 'em matchup tonight, but with two very good goaltenders guarding their respected cages tonight, I also expect this game to stay under 5.5 goals – so that's going to be my pick since I'm not super confident in a Moneyline pick in favor of either team.

Final Bruins-Golden Knights Prediction and Pick: Under 5.5 (-105)
