The Anaheim Ducks will look to wrap up their five-game road trip tonight in New York City tonight as they look to take on the Rangers in tonight's matchup. The road trip for the Ducks so far has not been in their favor as they've gone 0-4 in the first four games. The Rangers are finally back home after they just finished 2-2 on a road trip of their own. With that, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Ducks-Rangers prediction and pick.

Why The Ducks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Anaheim Ducks have not had a fun time as of late, dropping four straight games on the road where they were outscored by a combined score of 18-8. The Ducks have also put themselves almost out of playoff contention as they are now on the bottom of the playoff race totem pole with 64 points, four points behind the last wild card spot in the west. The offensive struggles are a tad uncommon for this Ducks team as they have some pretty good talent up front. However, the Ducks' powerplay success is really where most of the goals come from, converting on 24 percent of their chances, ranking them eighth-best in the league.

In net for the Ducks tonight will most likely be John Gibson, who is typically a much better goaltender than what his numbers currently show. He's 17-18-8 on the season with a .906 save percentage while allowing 3.03 goals against per game. Regardless of who gets the start in net tonight, the Ducks have some tough competition on the other side of the rink.

Why The Rangers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The New York Rangers are happy to be back in Madison Square Garden tonight after their mediocre 2-2-0 four-game road trip. On home ice, the Rangers are 19-5-3 and look to put another notch in the win column tonight against a Ducks team that's been in a real struggle since the All-Star break. Star goaltender Igor Shesterkin finally let the flood gates open as he's allowed eight goals in his last two starts, but keep in mind that he is still the heavy favorite for the Vezina trophy this year. He has been carrying this Rangers team all season as he will look to get another start between the pipes tonight. On the season, Shesterkin has a .938 save percentage while allowing just 2.07 goals against per game. He'll look to do what he normally does tonight and get back on track with another win and an extra two points.

Final Ducks-Rangers Prediction & Pick

This is one of those classic “don't overthink this” types of games. The Rangers are overall a better team than the Ducks, especially since the Ducks seem to have zero momentum after dropping four in a row on the road. Now they enter New York against an amazing Rangers team when they are on home ice, it's a no-brainer. I don't love the odds for a straight-up Moneyline pick for the Rangers, so give me the good ‘ol 3-Way Moneyline pick, picking the Rangers to win in regulation.
