Why The Lightning Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Tampa Bay Lightning come into this game after losing to Carolina 3-2 on Tuesday. It was yet another low-scoring game as the total goals have gone under 5.5 in six straight games now. Tampa Bay's blue line has been terrific with superstar defenseman Victor Hedman at the helm. They should be able to slow down the Bruins' offense with the help of superstar goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, who most likely is getting the start tonight. He'd averaging 2.2 goals against per game with a .932 save percentage. He's highly considered the best goaltender in the league, and he'll look to prove that here against a rough Bruins team tonight.

Why The Bruins Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Boston Bruins come into this contest on two days of rest after winning 3-2 in overtime on Monday against the Canadians. Much like the Lightning, that game was also low scoring, having three of their last five games go under 5.5 total goals. The Bruins' defense has been very good as they lead the league in expected goals per 60 minutes. They've also had a lot of help from their goaltending, mainly in Jeremy Swayman, who will look to get the starting nod tonight. Overall on the season, Swayman is 18-8-3 with a save percentage of .925 and allowing 2.09 goals against per game. He'll look to shut down the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions tonight on home ice.

Final Lightning-Bruins Prediction & Pick

Within the last four meetings between these two clubs, the total goals have gone under 5.5 in three of them. I think this trend could very easily continue considering both teams are starting some of the league's best goaltenders along with some of the best defensemen. I think this will stay low-scoring, kind of hoping for a 3-2 game, somewhere along those lines. Give me the under while it's listed at six goals.

Final Lightning-Bruins Prediction and Pick: Under 6 (-120)
