Why The Predators Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Nashville Predators hit the road following Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning in the Stadium Series matchup. Nashville ranks 10th in the league in 5-on-5 goals per game, but they haven't been scoring a whole lot lately as three of their last five games have gone under the total goal line. However, the Predators are 30-23 (56%) on hitting the over so far this season. The main reason for the recent unders has been because of solid goaltending in Juuse Saros as he has been one of the league's best between the pipes this season. He is projected to get the start tonight as he is sporting a .923 save percentage and allowing 2.46 goals against per game. The Predators will look to lean on Saros once again to help steal two points from a new Seattle Kraken team.

Why The Kraken Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Seattle Kraken come into this game on a seven-game losing streak where they have also seen lower-scoring games of late, where the under has hit in two consecutive games and three in their last five outings. However, the Kraken are 31-22-2 (58%) on hitting overs this year, which could be due to poor goaltending since they have little to no offensive production, scoring just two or fewer goals in 11 of their last 14 matchups. Seattle ranks 31st in the league in 5-on-5 goals per game but plays stingy defense that ranks seventh in the league for goals against.

It's not official, but we're likely to see Philipp Grubauer in net tonight as he's had a fall-off season, to say the least. He's allowing 3.17 goals per game with a .888 save percentage. He'll look to try and at least keep it close for his offense to try and get on the board often tonight.

Final Predators-Kraken Prediction & Pick

This is another one of those games where we shouldn't overthink this. The Predators are playing very good hockey lately and are still very much in contention to go deep in the playoffs. The Kraken on the other hand… well let's just say they didn't have the expansion season that the Vegas Golden Knights did a few years ago. I don't want to risk it too much and take an over/under, but this game should be a no-brainer. The odds for the Predators to win outright is way too high for me, so I'm going to rely on old reliable and take them to win in regulation (also known as the 3-Way bet) where the odds are much nicer.
