Game five is set to be played back in North Carolina as the Boston Bruins tied up the series against the Hurricanes. Both teams have won their home games so far, tying the series up at 2-2. If the trend were to continue, we should see a Hurricanes win here tonight. The Bruins have taken advantage of Carolina's goaltending woes so far and look to keep the pressure on in tonight's game. With that, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Bruins-Hurricanes prediction and pick.

Why The Bruins Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Boston Bruins gave up 10 goals in the first two games of this series, but they tightened up their defense in the next two games and proved why they have one of the best defenses in the postseason. Being down 2-0 made the Bruins realize that they need to keep the pressure on and not let Carolina get those scoring opportunities, which is exactly what they did, allowing the fewest high danger chances in the playoffs so far. They are also putting more shots on goal in each of the four games over Carolina, and they have their goaltending figured out with Jeremy Swayman. It's very likely that he'll get another starting role tonight as he now has a .925 save percentage in the postseason. He'll look to steal game five tonight before bringing it back home to Boston for game six.

Why The Hurricanes Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Carolina Hurricanes started off the series very hot, scoring 10 goals in the first two games, but have noticeably cooled off since the start of game three. However, this is a team that finished second place in the East with 116 points, so they're not a team to underestimate. The Canes' scoring attack was arguably the best part of their game but got shut down in games three and four. They'll need to find that part of their game again if they want to get back on top of the series at home tonight. Luckily for the Canes, it looks like goaltender Antti Raanta will be back in the net tonight as he is sporting a postseason save percentage of .936 percent. He should be able to slow down Boston's attack, just have to hope that the offense in front of him can score some goals.

Final Bruins-Hurricanes Prediction & Pick

Both of these teams have won their games at home, which means the Canes would win this game if the trend continued. However, I like the way that Boston has been playing these past few games, where they finally found their classic “Bruins hockey” type of play, which is hard-hitting, getting in other players' faces, and a relentless forecheck. The first two games they barely hit anybody and I'll be honest, I got a little worried for the Bruins. If they shy away from that again tonight, the Canes are going to have a cakewalk to another win. With that said, I like the value of the Bruins here, and they've finally found a groove. Give me the Bruins, and maybe even the over, something to look into.
