Why The Kings Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Los Angeles Kings have scored eight of their 12 goals in their last two games while only being able to score four times in games one and five. The Kings can win games if they keep it low scoring, but once the flood gates open, the Oilers fill the gap. The Kings have to limit the scoring chances of the Oilers, which is going to be tough to do without their star defenseman, Drew Doughty. However, star goaltender Jonathan Quick has been playing very well to the naked eye while his technical numbers aren't great: sporting a .893 save percentage through the postseason so far. The Kings have done a good job in outshooting the Oilers in this series, their defense needs to shut down McDavid and company tonight if they want to see another round in the playoffs.

Why The Oilers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Edmonton Oilers have been sensational on offense, taking every opportunity they get. The Kings have yet to find an answer for McDavid as he continues to show off why he's arguably the best player in the league. Even if the Kings do find a way to stop him, they'd still have to deal with Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, and Zach Hyman, just to name a few. The biggest issue for the Oilers is defense, including goaltending. Sure, Mike Smith has been playing well lately, putting up a .931 save percentage in the postseason so far, but he's still not super reliable. The ageless wonder definitely has some weak spots, but until the Kings can take advantage of those spots, the Oilers are in a good position to win this game at home and move on to face the winner of the Flames-Stars series.

Final Kings-Oilers Prediction & Pick

As long as the Oilers can stick to their brand of hockey and keep the pedal to the medal, they're going to win this series. However, we've been staying that since the playoffs began, but the Kings have hung in there to bring the series to a game seven. Ultimately I think the Oilers are going to win the game and series, but the value just isn't there to be taking them. Because of that, I'm going to take them to win in regulation, also known as the 3Way Bet. If they get it done, they get it done quickly without overtime.
