Why The Lightning Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Tampa Bay Lightning tied up the series in game six with a 4-3 overtime win, thanks to Brayden Point who snuck one in the five-hole to bring the series back up to Toronto. As soon as that game ended, you could feel the momentum shift back into the Bolts' favor as they want to play loose, giving them a little bit less pressure. Superstar goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy will be between the pipes again tonight for the Bolts (surprise, surprise) and he is posting a .921 save percentage so far in this postseason. As long as he can play like what the fans are used to seeing out of him, the Lightning will have no problem shutting down the Leafs tonight.

Why The Maple Leafs Can Cover The Spread/Win

This Toronto Maple Leafs team is going to be a part of their franchise history regardless if they win or lose. The Leafs haven't won a playoff series since 2004 and all the pressure is on this year's team to not only win for the whole country of Canada but also to knock off the back-to-back Cup champions. I'm willing to bet that if the Leafs lose tonight, expect to watch a sea of jerseys get poured onto the ice after the final horn. Goaltender Jack Campbell is no Vasilevskiy, but he'll get another start tonight as he's been playing decently well this series as he's holding onto a .893 save percentage so far.

Final Lightning-Maple Leafs Prediction & Pick

This is one of those games where you have to take a stand on which side of history you want to be a part of. There's the value pick in the Lightning, where if they win, you're in the “Leafs will never get out of the first round” camp. Or there's the home pick where if the Leafs win, you're in the “I knew they could do it” camp. Honestly, it's a toss-up. I don't know about you, but I would rather back the Bolts and lose than take the Leafs in a game seven just to lose. With that, give me the Lightning on the road just to keep the toxic Toronto fanbase hoping for next year. I have nothing against the Leafs, I just want to watch the Bolts singlehandedly create chaos throughout the hockey world.
