Since 2007, back in the last season of the Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA, forward Nick Collison has played together with Kevin Durant. And now that the 2015 MVP has left the Oklahoma City Thunder and decided to sign with the Golden State Warriors, the 12-year veteran is the only remaining OKC player from their Sonics days.

In an interview with Raul Barrigon of HoopsHype, the former 12th overall pick of the 2003 draft talked about he found out his teammate of nine years was leaving them for the team that knocked them out of the playoffs just two months before. He also shared how he felt upon finding out about it:

“He texted me… Well, first I heard that he was leaning that way and then he texted me that morning before he announced his decision.”

“I was disappointed, for sure. We played together for a long time, we came a long way from where we started. So yeah, it’s disappointing. It’s always tough when teammates leave, that’s the way the business works. It was a different thing with Kevin because of how much time we spent together, and obviously because of the great player he is.”

It certainly is interesting to know that KD informed Collison about his decision and not the team's other superstar, Russell Westbrook, who claims he heard about the Texas product's move just like the rest of us. He also said in a video that surfaced that he has not spoken to him since.

The match-up of the Thunder and Warriors is one of the most anticipated games this coming season. With the much publicized feud the two may have had during their 8 seasons together, it is expected that the home-and-away they'll be playing in the regular season are not just any ordinary games.

The Westbrook-led Thunder will visit The Bay Area on November 3 and on February 11, Durant will make his return to Chesapeake Energy Arena for the first time, where a sold-out crowd awaits their chance to see their former hero play against them for the first time ever.
