Nick Young believes the Los Angeles Lakers will win the title and that the Golden State Warriors will miss the playoffs.

As the former Lakers and Warriors veteran did an interview with Adam Caparell of Complex, the former NBA champion — he won it with the Warriors — made one of the more surprising season predictions:

If you have one crazy NBA prediction for the season what would that be?

I will say either New Orleans making the eighth seed or Denver not making the playoffs.

I don't think the Warriors going to make it this year. If they do, it's the eighth seed.

Denver was the No. 2 seed last year in the West. To have them go from the No. 2 seed and to not making the playoffs this season that's a hot take.

That could be. They're scared of the Lakers, they're scared of LeBron. Every time Denver played LeBron, and they get killed. They're going to be scared of the Clippers.

Who is your champion?

Lakers.

Young was plugging his new sports podcast, Certified Buckets. Young will host the podcast with WNBA baller and ESPN commentator Chiney Ogwumike and “Insecure” actor Sarunas Jackson. In other words, maybe he's making such a bold claim to encourage people to listen to his podcast.

But then again, it's really not out of the realm of possibility. The Lakers should be one of the top teams in the Western Conference at the very least. Furthermore, the Warriors are going with a makeshift starting five outside of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Journeymen like Glenn Robinson III and Marquese Chriss will start the season opener.

We'll see if Nick Young's predictions come true by the end of the season.
