Faze Clan CEO Lee Trink said that their acquisition of Nickmercs was “the most important player signing in the history of esports, period.”
“There has never been an acquisition of this significance to date,” Trink said. “Nick is not only an incredibly talented competitive gamer but he is a compelling personality.”
Nickmercs also received numerous offers from rival streaming platforms, but he decided to stay with Twitch.
“I've been streaming on Justin TV/Twitch for seven or eight years now, almost as long as it's existed,” said Kolcheff, 29, from Detroit, Michigan, referring to Twitch's original name. “I'd love to be able to stay on one platform, almost like staying on the same professional sports team, throughout my career. That's special to me.”
In 2021, Nickmercs, along with the FaZe Clan, graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. On the cover with him is Bronny James, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James.

As of this writing, Nickmercs has 6.5 million followers and around 67,000 viewers on average on Twitch. He was also one of the highest-earning gamers in the world in 2019 as he earned $6 million that year, according to Forbes.
