After a short but highly productive stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, DeMarcus Cousins is back on the free agent market and the Denver Nuggets have shown a ton of interest in signing the veteran center. With Cousins hoping to land a new contract and make a major impact on a contending team, finishing out the season with Denver may be his best chance of doing so.

If the Nuggets do end up signing Cousins to a 10-day contract, it's safe to say that it's a move they won't regret. This is especially true in their continued efforts to build a championship roster around franchise superstars Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., and Jamal Murray. With all this in the fold, we'll now take a look at the two biggest benefits of the Nuggets adding Cousins to their roster.

Cousins would give the Nuggets depth and versatility in their frontcourt

Even though he's not the competitive force of nature that he once was, Cousins did show in his brief tenure with the Bucks that he can still be highly productive with his well-rounded offensive game, rebounding, and solid interior defense. This would be especially impactful to Jokic who's played a ton of minutes for the Nuggets and has done it all for them this season. With a reliable back-up in Cousins, Jokic would get a ton of relief and more room to breath.

Cousins would give them another multi-skilled big on the roster that could keep them competitive while Jokic is out resting. Not to mention his size, aggression, and intensity would benefit the Nuggets greatly and make them one of the most fearsome teams in the league. With guys like Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and JaMychal Green already on their roster, the addition of Boogie would give them an elite frontcourt rotation not to be overlooked.

Not to mention they could run the ultimate bully ball line-up with Jokic and Cousins playing alongside one another and wreak havoc in the paint. Between the two of them, opposing teams wouldn't have an answer for their dominance on either end of the court and be truly overwhelmed by their size, length, and versatility.

Denver would gain a veteran leader who's a proven playoff performer

It wasn't long ago that DeMarcus Cousins was considered the best center in the NBA and was putting up All-Star type numbers each season. Although he's been ravaged with injuries over the past few years, Cousins proved himself as a consistent and hard working role player while playing with the Bucks and that could be a huge payoff for the Nuggets throughout the long and tiresome NBA season.

Plus his NBA Finals experience and time spent in Golden State will have a major impact in Denver as he could serve as a mentor to their younger players and impart some of his wisdom onto them. With the Nuggets continuously climbing the ranks of the Western Conference and improvising with both Murray and Porter Jr. out for the season, adding a high quality veteran like Cousins who could elevate their play even further is something that they should certainly act on sooner than later.
