Prized young gun Michael Porter Jr. has scored the first basket of his NBA career against the New Orleans Pelicans. He ended the game leading the Denver Nuggets in scoring.

Check out Porter Jr.'s first basket in the clip below. In 21 minutes of action, the 14th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft finished with a team-high 15 points, along with four rebounds, and one assist.

Porter Jr.'s debut has been a long time coming. Since he was selected in the draft last season, fans were patiently waiting for what the Missouri native has to offer. However, injury concerns forced the Nuggets to redshirt Porter. He underwent back surgery in July 2018 and subsequently sat out the entire 2018-19 season.

To recall, prior to the 2018 NBA Draft, Porter Jr. was projected to be selected within the top five picks. But in the weeks and days leading up to the event, health issues popped out which caused his draft stock to plummet.

Now, Porter Jr. finally has the chance to showcase the hype surrounding him. Analysts and colleagues have maintained that he's a world-class talent. His first game donning the Nuggets jersey may be a sign of good things to come for the young gun. All he needs is more time to mesh into Mike Malone's system.
