Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis has some high praises for the Denver Nuggets, but Nikola Jokic doesn’t seem to agree with his assessment.

The Nuggets are making serious noise in the Western Conference once again after a pair of 3-1 series comebacks in the playoffs last season. They are currently fourth in the standings with a 12-8 record, behind the 16-6 Purple and Gold squad.

With the way Denver has performed last season and this campaign, Davis expressed his belief that the Nuggets are in the same tier as his Lakers, as well as the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.

“They came back from 3-1 twice last year… I’ve always viewed Denver as one of the top teams in the league. Capable of beating any team in a seven-game series, Anthony Davis said of the Nuggets ahead of their Thursday showdown, per Harrison Faigen of SB Nation.

Despite Davis’ praise, Jokic doesn’t believe that is the case–at least not yet. The Serbian center had a different take on the Nuggets’ season so far as they look to get back to the conference finals.

“I think we need to work a little bit more to get to their level. Just because they have more experience than us, the players. Marc Gasol, he’s a winner, he won a championship, won a world championship,” Nikola Jokic explained, per Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports.

“AD for the first time won a championship. LeBron has been doing that for a lot of years. I think they have a lot more experience than us.”

While Jokic said the Nuggets need to work a little more, they aren’t too far off. The Lakers got some upgrades in the offseason with Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schroder while bringing in Marc Gasol, but Denver has been phenomenal in their own right.

With the way things are trending, there’s a real possibility the Nuggets and Lakers meet again in the playoffs. Davis and Jokic will also be a huge matchup to watch.
