While most NBA contenders are preparing to spend money this summer, the Denver Nuggets have no problems sticking with most of their players from last year.

Last season, the Nuggets secured the second seed in the Western Conference despite not having a legitimate superstar on their squad. Denver was patient in developing their young guys, particularly Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, and it paid off. Denver will look to keep their momentum heading into next season, and for Tim Connelly, the team's President of Basketball Operations, not making any significant changes is the best way to do it.

In an interview with the Denver Post's Mike Singer, Connelly said the Nuggets will try to improve the roster once free agency begins, and that if they strike out on their targets, the team will still be fine with the players they have.

“We’ve had the most success when we’ve shown patience and allowed guys to play into bigger roles, so we will look to better ourselves in the coming weeks, but we’re not the least bit scared of coming back with largely the same group.”

Connelly is optimistic that the Nuggets will be able to replicate their success next season, regardless of whether they make a move in free agency. He's also excited to go up against the teams who beefed up their rosters in order to be better.

“I think we focus on internal growth, focus on ourselves. I love our group, I love our core, love our coaching staff, so we’re pretty excited about whoever we’re competing against next season.”

The Nuggets will once again play the role of the underdog next season, but Connelly believes they will be just fine.
