Following their huge 115-107 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday, the Denver Nuggets have now tied their best start in franchise history. The Nuggets are off to a scorching start and are now 9-1 to begin their 2018-19 campaign, a feat that they have not done since the 1976-77 season.

Nuggets guard Jamal Murray had himself a career ball-game that propelled the Nuggets to their fourth straight victory. Murray was simply on fire, torching the Celtics with 48 points on 19-of-30 shooting. He scored 19 points in a scintillating fourth quarter that saw him bring out his entire bag of tricks, scoring off triples, mid-range jump shots, and acrobatic finishes around the cup.

However, Murray's night did not finish without controversy, as he explicitly tried to gun for 50 towards the end of the contest. With the game in the books, he flung up a last-second shot in an attempt to get the big 5-0. When the final buzzer sounded, Celtics guard Kyrie Irving threw the ball into the stands in disgust of Murray's shot. The NBA has an unwritten rule where players should just run out the clock if the game was already out of reach.

Despite the slight stain on the night of his life, Murray was finally able to break through as he had been struggling so far this season. Coming into the game, he was just averaging 15.7 points on 42.6 percent shooting from the field and 27.5 percent shooting from deep.

The 1976-77 Denver Nuggets finished with a 50-32 record during that season, and bowed out in the Conference Semi-Finals. Can they one-up that team and reach the Western Conference Finals? Right now, these 2018-19 Nuggets are looking like a legitimate top two team in the loaded West.

But before that, they will be looking to have their best start in franchise history as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
