The Denver Nuggets remain bullish on the future of Michael Porter Jr., who is in his rookie season after missing all of last season recovering from his back injury.

The Nuggets may be active at the trade deadline, but Porter isn't going anywhere:

“Michael Porter Jr. is not going anywhere,” The Athletic's Sam Amick said on the Tampering podcast. “I was even told that this is a rare thing in those parts, but from somebody just a few days ago who is a Stan Kroenke edict that coming on high from ownership that he's so in love with Michael that he doesn't want him going anywhere. That doesn't sound like a card that Stan plays all that often. I found that interesting.”

Ann Walton Kroenke is the owner of the Nuggets. Stan Kroenke is her husband. If they both want Porter to remain in Denver, the talented swingman isn't going anywhere.

In 39 games for the Nuggets this season, Porter is averaging 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game. He's shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 43.2 percent from beyond the arc and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Nuggets lost to the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round of the 2019 playoffs. With core players Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Gary Harris getting some playoff experience under their belts, Denver is looking to take the next step this postseason by getting to the Conference Finals.

For that to happen, the Nuggets will need Porter to stay healthy and improve as a dynamic scorer, playmaker and defender.
