The Denver Nuggets were considered favorites heading into their 2019 NBA Playoffs first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs. However, the second-seeded Nuggets now found themselves trailing, 2-1, in the series. The Nuggets lost their homecourt advantage after taking a 101-96 loss to the Spurs in Game 1. They managed to protect their court in Game 2, but they took a tough 118-108 loss to the Spurs on the road in Game 3 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on Thursday night.

Denver looked poised to regain homecourt advantage after pulling within four points early in the fourth quarter. They were also sizzling from beyond the arc, but the Spurs launched a huge rally from then on and led by as much as 20 points en route to the pivotal win.

The Nuggets shot an impressive 15-for-29 clip from beyond the arc and their bench players outplayed their Spurs counterparts. However, the Nuggets starters failed to produce the way they were expected to. And according to Nuggets guard Gary Harris, they need to play with a sense of urgency in Game 4.

“We have to be more physical, more aggressive,” Harris said via NBA.com. “We have to come out with a sense of urgency in Game 4.”

Harris scored just 12 points on 4-for-13 shooting for the Nuggets in Game. Fellow starting guards Will Barton and Jamal Murray combined for just 10 points. The only bright spots in their starting unit were Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap, who scored 22 and 14 points, respectively.

Nuggets head coach Mike Malone is also asking for more effort from his team. According to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. Malone wants his players to play more physical and tougher after making life easy for the Spurs in Game 3. Derrick White and DeMar DeRozan torched the Nuggets with 36 and 25 points, respectively.
