Denver Nuggets guard Gary Harris has been out of action for his team over the past three games due to a hamstring injury. However, it appears that the hamstring issue is nothing serious, as Nuggets coach Michael Malone himself confirmed that Harris is nearing a return:

Harris missed Saturday night's matchup against the Phoenix Suns, a contest that resulted in a surprise win for the struggling Suns, 102-93. Barring any setbacks, Harris should be able to suit up for the Nuggets when the team faces the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday in a second night of a back-to-back set.

It has been an injury-marred past month for Harris, who also sat out 11 games in December due to a hip injury. He made his return to action on Jan. 1, but was only able to take the court for four games before suffering the hamstring injury.

When healthy, Harris has been a stud for the Nuggets this season. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard is averaging 16.0 points (on 43.2 percent shooting), 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.4 blocks, and just 1.1 turnovers in 31.3 minutes of action.

His numbers have seen a dip from his breakthrough campaign last year, but with the hip and hamstring issues hopefully behind him soon, Harris will definitely look to get his groove back.

Most importantly, Harris' Nuggets remain the top team in the West at the moment with a 28-13 record. The defending champs, the Golden State Warriors, however, are breathing down their necks and are just half a game behind in the standings.
