After being sidelined with a hip injury for almost an entire year, Isaiah Thomas is making his season debut for the Denver Nuggets against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

Thomas hasn't played in the NBA since March of last year, when he decided to undergo hip surgery. The former All-Star guard was playing for the Los Angeles Lakers back then, and the team chose not to re-sign him due to a lot of concerns regarding his health.

A lot of teams also passed on Thomas in the summer before the Nuggets decided to sign him to a one-year deal.

Thomas doesn't know if he will ever play at 100 percent again because of his recent injury issues, but he plans to “stand out” with the Nuggets, who are currently the second-best team in the Western Conference.

IT also believes he can still play at an elite level, but noted that it will take time for him to do so:

Isaiah Thomas, the last pick in the 2011 NBA draft, became an MVP candidate half a decade later while playing for the Boston Celtics. Unfortunately, he suffered a hip injury that resulted in his career's downfall. The Nuggets will be IT's fourth team in the last two years.

But if there's one thing that the eight-year veteran has that hasn't been rattled by all the setbacks, it's his self-confidence. Thomas still believes he's one of the best players in the league. He will have an opportunity to prove that once again as part of a promising Nuggets team eager to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Here's to hoping Isaiah Thomas puts the team first before his individual aspirations.
