Denver Nuggets guard Isaiah Thomas is set to make his season debut on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 5-foot-9 point man has missed 11 months after undergoing a second hip surgery, missing the team's first 56 games of the season.

This game against his former team should serve as a warmup for Thomas before the All-Star break, giving him several days to test his wind before going on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 22.

Thomas had been inching closer to a return, but the team decided it was wise to wait until this date to put wheels in motion and trot him out there after a lengthy absence.

The Washington product first hurt his hip in the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, an injury that consequently caused him to get traded by the Boston Celtics and wind up in Cleveland, where he played 15 games before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

His stint in La La Land would be short as well, playing only 17 games with the purple and gold, who did not re-sign him to a deal in the summer.

Thomas connected with coach Mike Malone, inking a one-year deal to boost his status back to the All-Star caliber he enjoyed in his last season with the Celtics, after finishing third in the league in scoring with a career-high 28.9 points-per-game clip.

The Nuggets already have a bevy of firepower at the guard position with Malik Beasley and Monte Morris, but a recent absence from Gary Harris could leave the lefty dynamo with some immediate playing time before the rotations are re-arranged during the break.
