Denver Nuggets point guard Isaiah Thomas wants a “legit opportunity” to show he can still be an All-Star in this league.

Since suffering a hip injury during the 2017 playoffs with the Boston Celtics, Thomas hasn't been the same dynamic player. Last season, Thomas struggled with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.

A two-time All-Star, Isaiah Thomas underwent arthroscopic hip surgery last March. After reuniting with Michael Malone in Denver, Thomas was hoping to recapture his old form in the Mile High City.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen for IT, who only played in nine games with the Nuggets this season before Malone took him out of the rotation. The 30-year-old Washington native averaged 8.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 37.3 percent from the floor, 27.3 percent from beyond the arc and 63.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Basketball is all about fit and opportunity. Whose to say that Thomas can't play at a high level again if he's giving proper minutes and in a role which suits him?

Just look at Derrick Rose for example. Everyone thought his career was done last season when the Cavs traded him to the Utah Jazz who then waived him. Rose signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves and had a solid playoff run. This season, the former league MVP scored 50 points in a game and is averaging 18.0 points per contest.
