It was an overtime thriller between the Denver Nuggets and the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, with the latter coming away with a hard-fought 100-97 victory.

Following the game, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray opened up about the last possession of the game, wherein they were unable to get a shot off to try and tie the ballgame.

“We have to come up with something better,” Jamal Murray said, via ESPN. “The ball was in my hands, so it makes me look bad when that happens. We have to come up with something better, get open, and set some screens. It all comes out in the execution.”

The Nuggets had 15 seconds left in the final play, but were unable to even take an attempt, with Murray being forced by the defense to dribble out the clock. As  the 22-year-old explained, the lack of movement by his teammates during the play was what led to the botched possession.

Murray had a so-so performance in the overtime defeat, logging 15 points (6-of-16 shooting, 2-of-2 from the charity stripe), one 3-pointer, four rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a couple of turnovers in 37 minutes of play.

What makes this loss even more disappointing for the Nuggets is how they let a huge lead slip out of their hands. A furious second-half rally from the Kings allowed them to cut down a 17-point deficit to force the game to an extra period.

Denver will have two nights off, and will be back in action on Tuesday in a Western Conference marquee matchup against the league-best Los Angeles Lakers.
