Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray left Tuesday's matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers with a back injury.

The 22-year-old Canadian guard was diagnosed with a trunk contusion without any x-rays taken, according to DNVR Sports' Harrison Wind, and he is questionable to return to the nationally television tilt.

The 6-foot-4 University of Kentucky product is having another solid season for the Western Conference contending Nuggets. Murray, selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, is averaging 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists for a Denver team, which many see coincides with a down year for All-Star Serbian center Nikola Jokic.

Murray has emerged in recent years as a fearless outside shooter for the Nuggets on a balanced team he has to get everybody involved, including the deep wing unit.

Murray is also committing himself to the Canadian men's national team ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, along with a score of other Canadians and international NBA players planning to sign up with their home countries. On the occasion, Toronto Raptors and Team Canada head coach Nick Nurse called it “super exciting.”

“Super exciting. It’s going to be a hell of a tournament.

“We’re going to have to earn our way to it through some very good teams.”

“I think it’s a challenging group but it should be. There’s only a couple teams that get a free pass to the Olympics every year. Most of them have to really earn it and we’re going to have to earn it. It’s a hell of a goal and a worthy thing to accomplish”

Murray's absence could be a huge blow to the Nuggets, who are facing a physical and intimidating defensive team in the Sixers on the road.
