The Denver Nuggets were blown off the court in Game 1 of their Western Conference first round series against the Golden State Warriors, 123-107. In the loss, reigning league MVP Nikola Jokic was held to 25 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. For most NBA players, that’s an incredible day. For Jokic, that falls below average.

Outside of Will Barton, Jokic did not get any help in Saturday’s loss to the Warriors. Clearly, the Nuggets are going to need more fire power if they want to pull off the upset and move past the Warriors and into the second round. On Sunday, video surfaced of Jamal Murray at practice getting some shots up. He looked pretty good, providing a little hope for Nuggets fans he might be able to return.

Murray’s form looked good, taking some shots from the outside.

The Nuggets star guard has missed the entire 2021-2022 season because of a torn ACL he sustained last season. Initially, it was thought that Murray might make it back in time for the playoffs. That thought did not come to fruition for Game 1. Nuggets coach Michael Malone addressed Murray’s status earlier in the week. He recognized the agony that Murray must be dealing with, having to watch his team from the bench.

It is unlikely that Murray will be available for Game 2 in Golden State. However, if the Nuggets lose that game as well, there might be some added pressure to bring Denver’s star point guard back if possible. With the emergence of Jordan Poole on the other side, Denver could use the offensive help if they want to keep up with the Warriors.
