The Los Angeles Lakers' 2020 bubble championship run is one of the most iconic and polarizing NBA title runs in recent memory. Perhaps the only groups the can equal Lakers fans in passion towards the subject are fan bases that L.A triumphed over on the remarkable stretch.  Now, years later, a member of that Lakers team has crossed over into enemy territory, after former Lakers role player Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was traded to the Denver Nuggets.

KCP averaged 11.2 points in the Lakers' 4-1 series victory over the Nuggets, which advanced L.A. to the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. Caldwell-Pope arrived in Denver this offseason after being traded from the Washington Wizards for Monte Morris and Will Barton.

This offseason, members of the Denver media now have a chance to ask KCP about the 2020 WCF, and the veteran wing has made some surprising admissions about the series.

“I always tell people this story,” Caldwell-Pope told Harrison Wind. “If AD didn’t hit that 3, I think we would have lost that series. That’s what I think about this Denver team.”

Perhaps KCP was just showing some love to his new team, or maybe he really feels Anthony Davis' game two winner sealed the series. If Davis hadn't made the shot, Denver would have tied the series 1-1. In reality, the Nuggets could only secure a game three win to avoid the sweep.

Caldwell-Pope will try to tap into his 2020 playoff form and compete for more rings with a refurbished Nuggets roster. This time, Nuggets fans hope, maybe Denver won't run into series changing game-winners.
