Amidst recent reports of Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone agreeing to terms to join the Serbian national squad as a special adviser, the 48-year-old has recently cleared the air on the matter, denying any claim that a deal has been done.

To be clear, though, Michael Malone is indeed in talks with the Serbian basketball association for a potential role with the team, but at this point, the previous report appeared to have jumped the gun. For his part, Malone is likely keeping his focus on the Nuggets' current season, and does not want any distractions coming his or his team's way. Perhaps it would be more timely to make such an announcement once Denver's campaign officially comes to an end.

If things go according to plan, though, this should be a very long season for the Nuggets. They have looked great all season long, and Malone and his men currently occupy the second spot in a ruthless Western Conference. There's no denying that this team currently has the makings of a legitimate contender, so they're definitely hoping for an extended postseason run this term.

Joining the Serbian coaching staff would make sense for Malone, as this should be an opportunity to further strengthen his bond with his prized big man Nikola Jokic, who also happens to be Serbia's best player. Much like the Nuggets, Serbia are also looking forward to a successful run in this summer's upcoming Olympics.

Perhaps Malone could also double-dip with an NBA championship and a gold medal in the same year? Unlikely, but nothing is impossible.
