The Denver Nuggets will be without small forward Michael Porter Jr. on Sunday when they take on the Detroit Pistons.

Porter is dealing with a right ankle injury.

The Nuggets are 34-15 on the season and have the second-best record in the Western Conference, only behind the Los Angeles Lakers.

Porter has appeared in 39 games for the Nuggets this season. He's averaging 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 43.2 percent from beyond the arc and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Even without Porter, the Nuggets will likely have an easy time defeating the Pistons. Detroit is only 17-33 on the season and has lost five straight games.

The Nuggets lost to the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round of the 2019 playoffs. With core players Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Gary Harris getting some playoff experience under their belts, Denver is looking to take the next step this postseason by getting to the Conference Finals.

For that to happen, the Nuggets will need Porter to stay healthy and improve as a dynamic scorer, playmaker and defender.
