Monte Morris is a step closer from being a member of the Denver Nuggets’ regular lineup. According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, Morris has agreed to a three-year deal with the Nuggets worth $4.8 million. Charania also noted that only the first two years of that deal is guaranteed. That said, this is a dream come true for Morris, who’s is having quite a summer.

Morris was among the most impressive players on the Nuggets’ Summer League squad. The former Iowa State Cyclones guard led the Nuggets in Las Vegas with 17.5 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the field, 6.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 28.3 minutes per contest across four games.

He’s not going to see that much action in the regular season, though, as the main backup role in Denver is now virtually in the bag of Isaiah Thomas, who signed a one-year deal this offseason with the Nuggets.

Still, Monte Morris would prefer being a third-stringer point guard than playing on a two-way contract just like he did last season, when he saw action for just three games with the Nuggets and spent most of his time in the G League, playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In 37 games with the Vipers, Morris put up 17.8 points, dished out 6.5 assists, and pulled down 4.5 rebounds.
