Monte Morris came into the spotlight as one of the Denver Nuggets potent bench cogs last season and much like in 2018-19, the point guard is expecting his team to shock the Western Conference again for those who have left them outside the contender conversation.

During a trip to the Philippines to promote the NBA 3X, the country’s boys/girls three-on-three competition, Morris noted he has “no doubt” his team will be among the top one in the West.

“We finished second in the West [last season]. We’re bringing everybody back with more experience,” said Morris. “I feel like they’re brushing us under the table again. But that’s just more fuel to the fire that we're gonna take into training camp and show everybody we belong. I don't have no doubt that we won’t be top in the West.”

The triple negative at the end of his quote is sort of a head-scratcher, but based on everything Morris has said during his interview, he surely feels like keeping the same core — much like they did at the end of the 2017-18 season after missing the playoffs in a season finale loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves — will benefit them just like it did this past season.

The Nuggets will return with pillars like Nikola Jokic, Gary Harris, and Jamal Murray, while they await the impending return of rookie Michael Porter Jr. and have also traded for Jerami Grant from the Oklahoma City Thunder, further bolstering their depth.
