Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets red-shirted his entire rookie season due to a back injury that kept him sidelined even through his college career. There has been a lot of excitement lately with his return to the court, and Nuggets guard Monte Morris couldn't help but give fans some inside information on how MPJ is doing.

Reports from Denver suggest that Porter Jr. is looking good and ready to go. The Nuggets are reportedly optimistic with his progress but remain cautious due to his injury, which sidelined him for over 16 months.

Porter Jr. announced that he will finally get his first taste of NBA action in the 2019 NBA Summer League. The Nuggets will finally get a glimpse of the player that was once considered the top college recruit in the country.

When healthy, MPJ is a versatile, athletic wing that can play both forward spots and can score in a variety of ways.

Unfortunately, a lower back injury that Porter Jr. suffered in his college debut in Missouri cut his season short – to just three games, to be exact. He had surgery to repair the injured back in November 2017, but made it back for the team's final two games of the season.

Porter Jr. still elected to declare for the NBA draft even if he missed nearly his entire college campaign.

Despite the back issues, Denver still drafted Porter Jr. with the 14th overall pick in the 2018 draft. The Nuggets selected the 20-year old with the expectation that he would be out for the entire year.

After a successful 2018-19 campaign, the Nuggets, led by the budding tandem of superstar Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, look to take the next step and become legitimate championship contenders next season.

Perhaps the addition of a versatile offensive wing like MPJ might increase their ceiling next season. Let's just hope he can finally get over his injury woes and stay healthy throughout his much-awaited debut campaign.
