Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic is dealing with a finger injury, and the Nuggets' franchise player says the ailment is affecting his play a little bit.

Jokic jammed his finger at practice prior to the start of training camp and admitted he's still feeling some pain from the injury.

It doesn't appear Jokic's finger injury is serious, but fans will certainly hope that he can fully recover before the season starts. Jokic and the Nuggets agreed to a five-year, $146.5 million maximum contract extension in July. The Nuggets declined Jokic’s team-option for 2018-19 so they could lock up the talented big man for the long-haul.

Last season, Nikola Jokic averaged 18.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 75 regular season games, shooting 49.9 percent from the field, 39.6 percent from beyond the arc and 85.0 percent from the free-throw line. The 23-year-old registered 38 double-doubles and 10 triple-doubles, as he established himself as one of the best passing big men in the game.

Despite Jokic's stellar individual campaign, the Nuggets missed the 2018 postseason on the last day of the regular season after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jokic and the rest of his teammates used that defeat as motivation throughout the offseason and are eager to make the postseason this year.

Led by Jokic, the Nuggets have an extremely bright future. They have guards Jamal Murray and Gary Harris — who are establishing themselves as two of the best 3-point shooters in the league — and veteran power forward Paul Millsap, who is looking to redeem himself in his second year with the Nuggets after playing in only 38 games in 2017-18. Isaiah Thomas also signed with the team this offseason, and is hoping to regain his All-Star form as he reunites with head coach Michael Malone.
