Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic hilariously serves as ‘candle holder’ for Boban Marjanovic’s birthday
With the FIBA World Cup in China right around the corner, multiple teams are gearing up to take a run at a Team USA squad that is widely regarded as fairly vulnerable for the first time in years. After the recent losses to a select team, the featured numerous unsigned free agents, Two-Way players, and overseas players, the primary squad coached by Gregg Popovich seems to be in a tough position. One team that threatens to unseat Team USA this year is Serbia, who is led by Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic along with fellow NBA players Milos Teodosic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nemanja Bjelica and the inimitable Boban Marjanovic.
In a recent Instagram post from Boban’s wife, Milica Marjanovic, Jokic was shown gazing sweetly at the canoodling couple while holding Boban’s birthday candle as the hulking 7-foot-3 center celebrated his 31st birthday.
As you can see, Jokic, who is living up to his “The Joker” pseudonym in this post, is holding Boban’s birthday candle with a beatific smile for his friend.
Multiple GIFs serve as evidence of Jokic’s goofiness, but that goofiness does not extend to the basketball court, where Jokic’s astonishing passing ability and general offensive wizardry have Serbia poised to be a stiff competitor against the United State as well as Greece’s national team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo.
Either way, let’s all band together and wish Boban a happy birthday. One of the most beloved cult icons in the league deserves all the plaudits he can get as he celebrates his 31st year.
