The Denver Nuggets have undoubtedly been one of the biggest surprises so far in the 2017-18 NBA season at 10-7. However, they have suffered their casualty of the year with veteran forward Paul Millsap expected to miss some time with a torn ligament in his wrist.

It goes without saying that the loss of Millsap is a huge blow to this upstart Nuggets team. According to Gina Mizell of The Denver Post, Denver's dynamic big man Nikola Jokic says Millsap has been an integral part of their team up to this point

“I’m kind of sad, because he’s a big part of our new thing with what we’re trying to do … He’s a great player, an All-Star. We’re going to miss him on the court. He’s a go-to guy when we need a bucket.”

Jokic added that he is going to do his best to get everyone involved in Millsap's absence.

“I’m going to play the same way. I’m gonna try to get every guy involved in the game …whoever’s on the floor, I think he’s gonna give something good to the team.”

Prior to his injury, Millsap had been averaging 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. However, the veteran forward was able to leave his mark on nearly every aspect of the game for the Nuggets and as Jokic noted had been their most reliable scorer up to this point.

Fortunately, “The Joker” has been one of the most electrifying, young centers in the league thanks to his soft touch in the paint and rare passing ability. It will likely fall on him to hold down the frontcourt in Millsap's absence.

Millsap's timetable is still unclear since it remains to be seen whether or not he will need to undergo surgery. Denver will likely rely heavily on forward Wilson Chandler for the time being.
