Denver Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic has been named the NBA MVP, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. In turn, Jokic has become the lowest draft pick in NBA history to take home the coveted award.

Jokic was utterly dominant all year as the Nuggets finished with the third-best record in the Western Conference, even after losing starting point guard Jamal Murray to injury.

Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors were the other two finalists, but Nikola Jokic undoubtedly had one of the best seasons in recent memory.

The Joker averaged a career-high 26.4 points while shooting 56.6 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc. Furthermore, he chipped in 10.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists and–quite frankly–rarely had an off-game all season long.

The Nuggets topped Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round and now face Chris Paul, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns. The Suns took Game 1 on Monday night, although Jokic still put up 22 points and nine boards in the loss.

Either way, Jokic has been sensational all season long and has done everything down the stretch without Murray. The Nuggets are trying to make a return trip to the Western Conference Finals, although finding a way to beat the Suns might cause some problems for them.

Congratulations to Nikola Jokic and well-deserved.
