The Denver Nuggets narrowly escaped with a series-clinching Game 7 victory on Tuesday over the Utah Jazz in what was a whirlwind of a sequence in the dying seconds of the game. For his part, Nuggets star Nikola Jokic was relegated to the bench for the final seconds, and he could only look on helplessly as Jazz guard Mike Conley heaved what would have been a game-winning triple for Utah.

After the game, Jokic shared what was going through his mind at that exact moment, with his teams' fate all lying on one final shot:

“I bet we were cussing him out the full [time] that Mike [went to] shoot the 3,” Jokic said, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

“We are laughing right now. But it could be tragic.”

Nikola Jokic hit the nail on the head here. The Nuggets could have very easily been on the wrong end of the celebrations on Tuesday, had Conley's shot rattled in. To make matters worse, Denver actually had a chance to close out the game in the previous play, if only Nuggets forward Torrey Craig hadn't missed a clear layup on the break.

This is exactly what Denver stud Jamal Murray was contemplating on in his post-game interview. The 23-year-old admitted that he would have been absolutely crushed if Conley had made that last-second attempt.

“Man … first off, if we lost the game on that layup, that would've been so bad,” Murray told Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter. “Mike almost hit that. I was looking at that shot like, ‘Man, if this goes in, I'm going to be heartbroken.'”

In the end, though, it was the Nuggets that prevailed. They are now set to face off against the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round, with Game 1 scheduled on Thursday.
