Denver Nuggets power forward Paul Millsap has struggled with his jump shot in the preseason. Through three exhibition games, the 12-year veteran is shooting just 23.5 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the free-throw line. Millsap hasn't hit a 3-pointer either.

Despite his struggles from the field, Millsap is staying positive. The 33-year-old says he's glad his shooting woes are happening in the preseason rather than the regular season, which starts Oct. 17.

Paul Millsap signed a three-year, $90 million deal with the Nuggets in the summer of 2017. He averaged 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds in his first 16 games with Denver last season, but suffered a torn ligament in his wrist in November and underwent surgery. Millsap missed three months of action.

The 6-foot-8, 246-pound Millsap returned to the court in February. In 38 total games last season, Millsap finished with averages of 14.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. The Nuggets missed the 2018 playoffs on the last day of the regular season when they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The whole team is using that defeat as motivation for the upcoming campaign.

Millsap has the right mindset here. Obviously, no player wants to shoot poorly, but it's better to knock off the rust in games which don't matter so you're more prepared for the games that count. A four-time All-Star, Millsap will likely find his rhythm once the regular season begins.
