Denver Nuggets power forward Paul Millsap may have played his last game as a member of the up-and-coming Western Conference franchise. With the Nuggets losing in seven games to the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round, Millsap will now begin looking ahead to free agency and the looming NBA offseason.

However, Millsap still believes that the Nuggets have an incredibly bright future regardless of whether or not he returns to Denver for next season and beyond.

“Whatever happens in free agency, I think that this group and this core has a really good chance this year,” Millsap told reporters on Monday, via Mike Singer of the Denver Post.

The Nuggets currently own a $30 million team option for Millsap for the 2019-20 campaign. If they decided not to pick up the option, the veteran power forward will be an unrestricted free agent and will be free to sign elsewhere.

“For me, I’ve been a guy that everybody counted out over the years,” Millsap recently said, via the Denver Post. “Undersized four-man. Always been doubted. That’s what makes this year so special, this team was doubted throughout the whole year. We couldn’t do this, we couldn’t do that, we’re not good enough, we’re too young, blah, blah, blah …”

The Nuggets notably finished the 2018-19 regular season with an impressive 54 wins. As a result of those efforts, Denver finished behind only the No. 1 seeded Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference standings.
