Denver Nuggets veteran forward Paul Millsap powered through a knee issue on Sunday, helping his team to an impressive 128-104 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.

Following Denver's win, Millsap opened up about his injured knee:

“It was all how the knee looked,” Millsap said, via Mike Singer of The Denver Post. “The swelling went down after that collision with Jamal the other day. It swelled up on me, but we were able to get the swelling down a lot, still a little bit in there, but it’s not going to stop me from getting out there.”

Despite the bum knee, Millsap was outstanding for Denver, logging a team-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, along with three 3-pointers and one rebound. The 6-foot-7 power forward also delivered an admirable performance on the defensive end, as he matched up against none other than Lakers superstar Anthony Davis.

Millsap talked about his defensive effort against AD, saying he came prepared for a “hundred touches” for star big man:

“Felt like he was attacking me all game, so I just wanted to be aggressive and make him work a little bit,” Millsap said with a veteran’s laugh. “He’s such a good player, it’s hard to stop him.”

Davis was still his usual dominant self against Denver, notching a game-high 32 points (on 13-of-23 shooting), 11 rebounds, an assist, and four blocks in 34 minutes of play. Despite Davis' heroics, however, Millsap and company still came out on top against a LeBron James-less Lakers side.
