The Denver Nuggets have been excited to unleash their former lottery pick Michael Porter Jr. in the Summer League after the rookie sat out his entire first season after dealing with a hip injury.

Only a few days away from making his official debut in the uniform during the Las Vegas portion of this year's preseason league, teammate Jordan Davis said the 6-foot-10 forward plays like he’s part of NBA 2K.

“I called my parents and told them that,” he told reporters on Monday, according to Benjamin Hochman of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “He’s the real deal. I saw a couple times in a row, guys are all over him, fouling him, he shoots step-backs … All net. He’s elite.”

Make no mistake, Porter has never been short in talent, as he was a probable top-five pick in last year's draft before his medical results scared a lot of teams from picking him.

Denver took the plunge at No. 14 and was able to afford giving him a full year to recover, already boasting a solid starting core and a deep bench, which he should only solidify as he makes his NBA debut in 2019-20.

Porter's combination of sheer size and guard-like perimeter skills could easily make teams regret not picking him higher. If he comes out of this first-year absence to have a healthy career, president Tim Connelly would add yet another massive win to the plethora of draft gems he's managed to find in the last few years at the helm of the front office.
