The offseason is now in full effect with the free agency period quickly approaching in less than two weeks time. It has pushed forward several major decisions ahead of that with players who hold options for the 2018-19 campaign. According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, Denver Nuggets veteran forward Wilson Chandler has decided to pick up his option worth $12.8 million for next season.

The 10th-year forward has spent the last 6 1/2 seasons with the Nuggets since being acquired as part of the trade that sent All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks. Chandler has been one of the primary pieces to the puzzle over that span as a mainstay in the starting lineup behind his consistent production and reliability on both ends of the floor.

The 31-year-old experienced a decline in his production this past season averaging 10.0 points on 44.5 percent shooting from the field and 35.8 percent from 3-point range with 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contest in 74 games played with 71 starts. This includes scoring double figures 38 times that includes notching at least 10 points 33 times and posting five 20-point outings along with two performances with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Chandler's decision now keeps the Nuggets' frontcourt crowded that also features All-Star Paul Millsap, Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur,  Juan Hernangomez, and recently drafted rookie Michael Porter Jr. The front office may look to make a move or two to clear up the situation that should give them a better sense of direction with that group.

Denver has been attempting to move Faried for the last couple of years but has been unable to successfully find a suitable trade. Their efforts may ramp up again with the addition of Porter Jr. to the mix. This could be a busy offseason for the Nuggets to push forward on their steady progress to breakout with a playoff berth in the 2018-19 campaign.
