The Denver Nuggets currently sit with a record of 15-8 in the Western Conference, which is good enough for 5th place directly behind the Houston Rockets’ 17-8 record. The Nuggets have been helped by a terrific defense, which they’ve needed due to seeming regression from All-NBA First Team Center Nikola Jokic in 2019-20.

Now, with the trade period for players who signed contracts this offseason beginning on Monday, December 15, teams are gearing up to get some deals done before the February 6 trade deadline – including the Nuggets, who are reportedly interesting in shopping Juancho Hernangomez and Malik Beasley, both of whom are in the final year of their contracts. Jeff Zilgitt of USA Today reported the news:

“Denver could be in the market with Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez potentially available if they can package a deal that nets the Nuggets a contributor.”

Both Hernangomez and Beasley were drafted by the Nuggets in 2016, with Hernangomez being taken at No. 15 overall and Beasley going four spots later at No. 19 overall.

While it took a while for both players to make their mark, they each hit career-highs in various categories in 2018-19, including games played (70 for Hernangomez, 81 for Beasley), points per game (5.8 for Hernangomez, 11.3 for Beasley) and total minutes played (1358 for Hernangomez, 1879 for Beasley).

Both players are on the older end for young prospects, with Hernangomez being 24 and Beasley being 23, but both players being available should really be of notice to a younger team looking to add a couple pieces that they might able to re-sign.
