Will Barton had his best night of the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a narrow loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The Denver Nuggets wing topped it off with a beautiful up-and-under to finish with a sweet reverse flip that careened into the basket over the defense of Maxi Kleber and Kristaps Porzingis.

Barton has been decently steady after managing to outplay Torrey Craig for the starting small forward spot, now averaging 14 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists on the season.

The Nuggets will need him to shoot better than his 38.6% from the floor, but he's rebounding and playing enough defense to keep his job safe for the time being.

Denver had been undefeated through seven games prior to this loss, winning all four preseason games and their first three games of 2019-20. Barton's scoring has helped them get there, but his viability as a starting cog will depend on how he manages his shooting slumps and if he can contribute in other areas, as there's just too much depth in the roster for coach Mike Malone not to use it.

Craig and Michael Porter Jr. are two players patiently waiting for their chance to shine, but Barton has been doing a decent job of warding them off with dazzling plays like this one.
