Obi-Wan Kenobi's first two episodes on Disney+ certainly left a great impression on Star Wars fans. With Ewan McGregor's compelling performance, the introduction of a young Leia Organa, and a cliffhanger ending that left everyone on the edge of their seats, the hype was definitely present for this series. And with the current chapter ending the way it did, there's really a lot of room left for several questions. Fortunately, this Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 ending explained is here to shed light on the old Jedi master's adventure this week.

Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 ending explained

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars, Entertainment

The second episode ended not only with Obi-Wan rescuing a young Leia Organa from her captors, the old Jedi also discovered that Anakin Skywalker was still alive and had become Darth Vader. This revelation prompted Kenobi to call upon Qui-Gon Jinn's spirit. Instead, old memories of Yoda's warning, Anakin's fall, and Reva's taunts filled his head.

While Obi-Wan does his best to contact his former master, a montage of scenes showing different pieces of Darth Vader's black armor is being attached to Anakin Skywalker's scarred and burnt body. The final one has his iconic helmet lowered down and a menacing breath emanating from within as Obi-Wan says that his former apprentice is coming for him.

From his castle in Mustafar, Darth Vader communicates with Reva as the Third Sister details her encounter with Kenobi. The Sith Lord emphasizes that the Jedi is all that matters now and promises to make her Grand Inquisitor if he is captured. Vaders adds that if she fails, the inquisitor won't be alive to regret it.

Back in their escape ship, Leia asks Obi-Wan how the Force works. The Jedi responds by telling her the feeling of turning on the light after being in the dark. As he says that, he returns a newly-repaired Lola to the young princess. After a while, the pair arrive in Mapuzo, a Mid Rim planet, and proceeded to meet with the people Haja Estree promised to help them.

In another part of the universe, Reva proceeds to a water-filled planet with an Imperial station on it. She then meets with other inquisitors and tells them that Kenobi is on a mining planet and orders them to send probes right away. The Fifth Brother then threatens Reva and tells her that he is next in line to be the Grand Inquisitor. The Third Sister then tells them that Lord Vader himself ordered her to lead the hunt, an act both inquisitors reluctantly follow.

Back on Mapuzo, Obi-Wan and Leia arrive at the meet-up point with no one in sight, a development that angers the Jedi. The young princess then hails a transport that passes by with the hope they will be given a ride to the nearest spaceport. Freck, the alien driving the transport, allows the pair to hitch a ride with him as Obi-Wan suspiciously stares at the Imperial banner attached at the back.

As they're making way through the fields, several Stormtroopers hail the transport. Freck gives them a ride at the back with Obi-Wan and Leia as they state their mission of finding a Jedi on the planet. The pair make up a story to keep their identities hidden. To the Stormtroopers' surprise, Kenobi slips and calls Leia by her real name, an act that almost gives them away.

Fortunately, the Jedi comes up with a clever reason as the troopers depart right after. But thanks to that cover-up, Leia notices something about the story Obi-Wan makes and asks him if he knew her real mother. The Jedi reasons with the princess and steers her away from discovering her true lineage. All the while, Freck takes them to an Imperial checkpoint as the pair are interrogated by Stormtroopers.

At this point, an Imperial probe droid scans Kenobi as the Jedi destroys it with a blaster. Although he defeats the initial batch of troopers, another squad comes along to apprehend them. Without any warning, the imperial officer in charge of the squad blasted her troops. She then urged Kenobi and Leia to follow her to safety.

The destruction of the probe confirmed Kenobi's presence on Mapuzo to the Inquisitors. Reva and the others then move to contain the old Jedi to where he currently is.

Meanwhile, the officer who rescued Obi-Wan and Leia instructed them to lay low inside a droid facility until their transportation is ready to go. Kenobi inquires what this place is as she responds that it's a safehouse and that he's not the first Jedi they have helped. She adds that the Empire is not only hunting former members of the Jedi Order, but they're also pursuing Force-sensitive individuals.

Kenobi inspects the wooden wall beside him and sees an inscription on it. He recognizes it as Quinlan Vos‘ writing, a detail that was confirmed by Tala. All of a sudden, Stormtroopers knock on the door and demand entry into the facility. They search the premises and interrogate the droid to no avail, prompting the troopers to leave.

The group then proceed with their escape plan as Imperial forces start to amplify their search for Kenobi. As they were about to leave, Obi-Wan feels a disturbance in the Force as Darth Vader and the Inquisitors arrive. The Sith Lord kills a couple of locals to draw the Jedi out.

Kenobi tells Tala to take Leia to Alderaan as he tries to distract Vader away from them. The two finally meet in an empty field as the master questions the apprentice about what he has become. The Sith Lord responds that he has become what Kenobi has made him as he engages his former master in a lightsaber duel.

As the locals are being gathered by Stormtroopers, Reva follows Tala and Leia. The former tells the princess to go alone as she tries to stall the Third Sister.

Vader captures Kenobi using the Force and ignites the field on fire, replicating the environment on Mustafar as the Jedi suffers serious burns on his arm. Tala comes out, causes a distraction, and rescues Obi-Wan with the help of a loader droid.

Doing what Tala instructed, Leia runs to meet the pilot who would take her to safety. Instead, she meets Reva, who just killed her only hope to escape. The episode ends with the Third Sister chasing the young princess.
