The Oklahoma City Thunder has chosen to retire its navy blue alternate uniforms, after a team official confirmed their going away without providing a specific reason, according to Brett Dawson of The Oklahoman.
The jerseys had drawn mixed reviews from fans after debuting during the 2012-13 season.
The team wore the navy unis for the last time during a 124-92 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2016 Western Conference semifinals.
“Russ usually controls it,” former teammate Kevin Durant told Erik Horne of The Oklahoman back in April. “Russ and our equipment manager.” That's not to say Westbrook nixed the navy alternates this season.
Horne ran a poll on Twitter, which tells pretty accurately the fans' sentiment toward the unis unexpected end.
