Andre Roberson recently made it clear as to why he wanted to to remain with the Oklahoma City Thunder. While the free agency market of the NBA is thriving, Roberson just felt it was best to stay put and not chase a more enticing offer elsewhere, although he never received an offer in the ballpark of what he was hoping for.

Making the return to Oklahoma City more enticing was the arrival of Paul George, pairing him alongside Russell Westbrook to potentially form one of the most dynamic duos in the NBA.

Roberson, who was a restricted free agent, had the ability to sign an offer sheet with any team willing to offer, and OKC would have had the right to match it.

“Sometimes you got to sacrifice to be a part of something special, right?” Roberson toldThe Oklahoman on Friday. “That’s what I did.

“This is the place I wanted to be,” Roberson said. “The whole organization, everybody here, I treat them like they’re my family. They’re great people. Not just them – the community, the fans, they’re all great. I just wanted to be part of something special. I don’t take it for granted. A lot of guys fight to be in this position. I’m blessed to be here and get drafted by this organization.”

Roberson seems happy to still be in OKC, choosing to look at the situation positively.

“Ten million dollars is great,” Roberson said. “I’m not complaining.”
