I never want Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield to graduate. Not because there is some weird part of me that hopes he has bad grades, but because he is the gift that keeps giving to college football.

Only a few hours removed from having to listen to Iowa State players rag on him, which was partially a result of Baker Mayfield ragging on Ohio State, the gunslinger is back talking more trash. This time, however, it is aimed directly at another quarterback.

It is worth noting — strongly — that this seems like trash talk residing far more in the realm of good fun than it is anything evil.

Anyway, here is his trash talk on Texas Longhorns signal-caller Sam Ehlinger:

This is literally trash talking that involves high school stuff. Lake Travis, winners of nine in a row in the high school series, faces Westlake on Friday. I have to admit, the details of why this is funny or mean are lost on me.

Mayfield is coming off being forced to respond to Iowa State planting its state flag in the middle of the Oklahoma field after the Cyclones upset the Sooners last weekend.

“You expect it, and it’s whatever,” said Mayfield on the Edwards flag plant, as transcribed by ESPN.

“I’m sure I’ll get comments that Iowa State is my dad or something like that,” he said.

The Oklahoma gunslinger wasn’t all negative and rainy days, though. He gave us a tired cliche to boot.

“I’m not worried what they’re doing,” he said. “You gotta go back to work.”

Of course he isn't worried about it. He is literally talking smack like three days later.
