Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts is a true wildcard in the upcoming NFL Draft, but it would make a lot of sense for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to take a chance on him.

Jameis Winston is set to be a free agent after this season, and it's unclear if the Buccaneers are going to bring him back. Even if they do, it could be on a short-term deal, and they could groom, Hurts to be their quarterback of the future.

Hurts is a duel-threat quarterback, and the Buccaneers would probably have to try and accommodate his playing style. Just a couple of years ago that might have been unheard of, but the Baltimore Ravens did that with Lamar Jackson and Tampa Bay could do the same.

Thedraftnetwork.com gave him the following review of Hurts.

Often praised for the way he handled the closing stages of his career at Alabama. No one around the facility had a negative word to say about him and his week-to-week preparation stayed the same despite the circumstances. Amid all the speculation of his future and what he could do, he managed to stay put and execute during his opportunities on the field.

A playing-style that revolves around him being incorporated into the designed quarterback running game of some facet, that tactic is what makes him comfortable. Average twitch, but a build up speed type of operator in space, he has a slippery nature of being able to win with his feet when breaking the pocket or during designed runs. Most of his successful runs have come while attacking the edges of the defense.

One of the biggest issues for Hurts is he doesn't keep his eyes down the field. When he senses pressure he instantly looks to run, and that is something he needs to work on when he gets to the NFL. Instead of looking to run, he needs to keep his eyes down the field and continue to look for a possible pass.

The biggest question surrounding Hurts is where he is going to be drafted, which could make a big impact on if the Buccaneers could potentially select him. It's hard to imagine they would use a first-round draft pick on Jalen Hurts, but if he falls to the second or third round, it would make a lot of sense to take a flier on him. He might just end up being their franchise quarterback, so it's worth a shot within reason.
